When BMW build a superbike, we have no time for second best. BMW now present the very latest in racing power. With an aluminium bridge, radial brakes, a super sporty tail-up nose-down design, hot colours and the ultimate combination of electronic rider assistance systems: the first genuine racing ABS, whose features include a front-wheel-only mode, dynamic traction control (DTC) which permits varying degrees of slip, depending on the lean angle. The more the rider hangs off, the more upright the bike and the longer the lines on leaving the curve. Never before was it so easy to keep so much power under control. This is just as true on public roads as it is down on the racetrack. The RR label shows that it is a full-blooded racing bike, even though it can also be ridden with a number plate attached. To top it all off is an engine which is our absolute pride and joy

The BMW will be arriving at Riders on Saturday 5 th December – in the meantime why not read some of the reviews at Visor Down and Motorcycle News.

If unfamiliar territory has held you back from venturing into the unknown, look no further than BMW's brand new Navigator IV. With its preinstalled maps of 40 countries in Western and Eastern Europe and over 1.5 million points of interest, this latest satellite navigation system, designed with motorcycle riders in mind, will keep you on track, even in the most remote of places.

Faster route calculation, 3D building representations, extra large touch screen buttons, a lane assistant and junction views are only some of the perks BMW's latest satnav has to offer. In contrast to its predecessor, it carries a multiple-route preview, speed limits are shown for most of the BMW Navigator IV SatNavmain roads and vehicle specific routes can be selected.

Unique to this new model, is the 4.3” touch screen which is easily legible, even in bright sunlight. Four additional control buttons also line the left side of the mounting cradle, allowing the rider to use it comfortably when wearing gloves.

Other properties of the Navigator IV include two data fields in which personal information such as arrival time, remaining travel time, average speed, direction and current height above sea level can all be monitored. Even though map data is pre-installed and supplied with the system, routes can easily be planned on a computer and uploaded. Routes travelled are automatically recorded and can be reviewed in programmes such as ‘Map Source' or ‘Google Earth'.

The Navigator IV is compatible with the new BMW motorcycle communication system which will be available for the System 5 and the all new System 6. All street names are therefore audible allowing the rider to focus his or her attention on the road. It supports more than 200 mobile phones with Bluetooth and enables the motorcyclist to accept incoming calls and place outgoing calls directly via the satnav. State-of-the-art stereo Bluetooth technology is also used for in-helmet music playback.

Dave Alexander, Parts and Accessories Manager of BMW Motorrad said: “Given that our customers tend to be adventurous riders who travel considerable distances, we take pride in delivering a top of the range navigation system. This latest entry in the Motorrad Navigator range offers a new benchmark in satnav technology and will take our customers wherever they want to go in the world. The Bluetooth technology used makes the satnav even safer, as riders will no longer have to take their eyes off the road to look at the map.”

BMW Motorrad has announced a significant new offer on two of its most iconic and best-selling motorcycles. Customers purchasing and registering a new R 1200 GS or R 1200 GS Adventure from UK Motorrad dealers, between 01 April and 31 December 2009 (inclusive) will receive a complimentary set of BMW Panniers, valued at £459 for the R 1200 GS and £603 for the Adventure. Both prices are recommended retail and inclusive of VAT.

BMW Panniers are the ultimate accessory for the 1200 GS and Adventure models. Not only are they designed to carry luggage and essential R 1200 GS Adventure Panniers Offersupplies when venturing out on a two-wheeled trip of a lifetime, but can also be used everyday for a laptop or brief case.

Customers purchasing a new R 1200 GS from any BMW Motorrad UK dealership will qualify for a free set of Vario Panniers, capable of carrying a total load of 10kg per pannier and providing a value added benefit of £459.77. These panniers have a unique adjusting mechanism that enables their overall volume to be adapted to suit the environment in which the bike is being ridden. They can be reduced from a combined capacity of 68 litres to 50 litres simply by flipping a bar in each case. This effectively reduces the width of the motorcycle by 120mm, which can prove extremely useful in congested zones when filtering through traffic.

And the new R 1200 GS Adventure is now available with a complimentary set of handmade Aluminium Panniers, providing customers with a value added benefit of £603.15. The rugged aluminium panniers, which are able to carry 20kg and offer a combined capacity of a substantial 82 litres, are often preferred for enduro adventure riding. They can easily be hooked onto the carriers and can be locked using a key coded to the bike.

The 1200 GS range is ultimately suited to exploration and adventure. The obvious question thus arises: What better accessory to have, than a complimentary set of panniers to go with the bikes? With the added value of this fantastic offer combined with affordable finance packages from BMW Select, the ever popular R 1200 GS and Adventure now represent even better value for money.

BMW Motorrad has also assembled a number of accessory packages to complement its R 1200 GS models. The new ‘Luggage Packs' represent even greater value for customers, offering a saving of £100 on retail prices. The Luggage Pack for both the R 1200 GS and GS Adventure includes L/H and R/H inner bags, Top box and mounting kit, locks, a Top box inner bag and tank bag.

Riders' Cardiff store opened its doors officially on the 9 th and 10 th May to coincide with the launch of the Ducati Streetfighter and the BMW F800R. Fortunately the great British weather was kind to us with beautiful dry days on both the Saturday and the Sunday. Our BBQ proved very popular with all (we sold out of burgers completely!) as did the DynoJet rolling road.
