Choosing the winners is always a tough call because, as you can imagine, every Ducati dealer is enthusiastic in representing the brand and we believe they all deliver high standards”.

Bike Show

The Eicma visitors elect the new Ducati Multistrada 1200 Best Bike in show.

More than 20,000 fans voted for the bike by participating in the competition organized each year by the Italian "Motociclismo" magazine, who carried out a survey among the visitors with a form to fill out either at the show or online. The new Multistrada 1200 took more than 48% of the votes, followed by the MV AgustaF4 and the Aprilia RSV4.

The prize giving took place at the end of the show, on the official Motolive stage (the area dedicated to EICMA's external events) in the presence of Dr. Costantino Ruggero, the General Director of EICMA, and Piero Bacchetti, President and CEO of the Edisport publishing group. This was the final event at the end of an intense week that saw nearly 450,000 visitors fill the Halls of the Milano-Rho trade show district.

The award only emphasizes the public's enormous interest in the new jewel in the Borgo-Panigale crown, a further confirmation of the energy and resources that Ducati is dedicating to the constant development of new products.

The new Ducati Multistrada 1200 thus reigns supreme. Not just a new bike, but a new concept of bike. From the moment the EICMA show opened, the area of the Ducati stand dedicated to this innovative machine was flooded with a constant tide of visitors, all eager to see the new product, the pride of the Italian motorcycle industry.

The 1200 is a Multistrada with the emphasis on Multi, a sportbike which is powerful and fun but also easy to ride and whose first priority is the safety and comfort of its rider.

Ducati wanted to produce a motorcycle to tackle any kind of journey and road surface, a motorcycle that used technology derived from the Bologna-made race bikes in MotoGP and World Superbike.

A bike with no limits, that can transform itself to suit the rider's demands, from a supersport to a tourer for long journeys with a passenger and luggage, to an everyday bike which can breeze through the daily commute and also tackle off-road routes with the agility of an enduro; in other words, four bikes in one!

The new 2010 Multistrada 1200

Ducati UK will be showcasing two of the hottest new models at this year's NEC motorcycle show.

The new and eagerly awaited Multistrada 1200 along with the acclaimed Hypermotard 796 will be making their UK debuts at the International Motorcycle Show in Birmingham from the 27th November to the 6th December.

Ducati will have just two new models on display rather than their full range with a smaller scale stand than in previous years.  However despite the economic climate that has resulted in other manufacturers taking the decision not to attend this year's show at all, Ducati felt it was vital to not only support the UK's premier motorcycle show but also not to deny the British public the opportunity to see one the most important and eagerly awaited bikes of 2010.

The Multistrada 1200 unveiled recently at the Milan show stunned visitors with its innovative Ducati 2010 Multistrada 1200looks and class leading technology. The Multistrada is a bike with the emphasis on ‘multi' and could be described as four-bikes-in-one as its characteristics can be changed by the touch of a button to different riding modes: Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro. Power and torque delivery, suspension settings and traction control can be changed even while riding. The Multistrada incorporates many innovations including ride–by-wire, Ducati traction control (DTC), Ducati electronic suspension (DES), a new Testestretta 11° 150hp producing 87.5lb ft of torque  and a host of other cutting edge specifications.

Weighing in at 189kg the Multistrada is lighter than any other road enduro, touring or sport touring bike currently available and coupled with class leading technology, Ducati has once again set the benchmark and is certain to be the biggest draw at the show.

The Hypermotard 796 joins the Multistrada at the NEC and has already been lauded after its recent press launch in Bologna where it impressed with its agility and adeptness and will no doubt be a draw to those looking for a versatile urban companion.  The 796 is as aggressively striking as the 1100, but with a lower seat height, flexible 81hp engine and an overall weight of 167kg, the new 796 fuses aggression with mild manners, a perfect combination for the city or the open road.

Colour changing Ducati's

Ducati now offer dozens of different colour panels for their ever-popular Monsters. The idea is fancy a change, buy a new set of panels, fit them in just 15 minutes and bingo – a new bike (well almost but you will probably fool the neighbours!)

Ducati sent a set to Motorcycle News Senior Editor John Westlake – you can watch the footage yourself below click here.

New Hypermotard 796

Ducati has released the first images of the Hypermotard 796, in advance of the international EICMA motorcycle show in Milan.

The Hypermotard family will expand for 2010 with the addition of the exciting new Hypermotard 796. Just as aggressively striking as the 1100, the new Hypermotard 796 features a lower seat height and brand new smooth and flexible engine to make it the perfect urban assault vehicle. Whether it's working the daily commute or attacking the open roads, the 796 will ride the common ground between manners and madness by mixing Ducati's unrivalled twin-cylinder power and sport bike heredity with the lightweight and minimalist supermotard concept.

The 796 weighs in at just 167kg (368lb), partly achieved by a lightweight engine, but also by continued chassis development that includes redesigned top and bottom fork clamps and an improved frame layout which eliminates almost all of the forged elements previously used with Ducati Hypermotard 796the 1100.

At 825mm (32.5in), the seat height of the 796 is a sure-footed 20mm (0.8in) lower than the 1100 and, when combined with the new engine's smooth power delivery, this Hypermotard inspires confidence however and wherever its ridden.

The completely new Ducati 796 engine, which conforms to Euro 3 regulations, produces 81hp (59.6kW) of power and 55.7lb-ft (7.7kgm) of torque with the smooth and economic rideability expected from all Desmodue L-Twins.

The bike is equipped by an APTC ‘wet' clutch to give a ‘slipper' type action that prevents destabilization of the rear-end during aggressive down-shifting and also gives the extra benefit of a super-light feel at the lever, a great benefit in stop-start city traffic or during longer journeys.

The new 796 comes in an urban-style Dark finish with matte black tank and beak section, black frame and black wheels or, alternatively, matte white tank with contrasting matte black beak, black frame and black wheels. For the purists, an 1100 look-alike red tank with matching beak section, red frame and black wheels gives the 796 a traditional livery.

The Hypermotard is expected to arrive at Riders in December. The bike Matt colour versions have an SRP of £6,995 and the traditional Red version is £7,195 SRP

"Hyper-Terminator"
TO MAKE SCREEN DEBUT ON June 5th

The year is 2018.

Judgment Day has come and gone, levelling modern civilization. An army of Terminators roams the post-apocalyptic landscape, killing or collecting humans where they hide in the desolate cities and deserts. But small groups of survivors have organized into a Resistance, hiding in underground bunkers and striking when they can against an enemy force that vastly outnumbers them.

Controlling the Terminators is the artificial intelligence network Skynet, which became self-aware 14 years earlier and, in the blink of an eye, turned on its creators, unleashing nuclear annihilation on an unsuspecting world. Only one man saw Judgment Day coming. One man, whose destiny has always been intertwined with the fate of human existence: John Connor (Christian Bale).

Now the world is on the brink of the future that Connor has been warned about all his life. But something totally new has shaken his belief that humanity stands a chance of winning this war: the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger from the past whose last memory is of being on death row before awakening in this strange, new world. Connor must decide whether Marcus can be trusted. But as Skynet adapts new strategies to end the Resistance forever, Connor and Marcus must find common ground to take a stand against the onslaught—to infiltrate Skynet and meet the enemy head-on.

The Hypermotard was the inspiration for one of the newest Terminator machines, the MotoTerminator! Check out some behind the scenes footage of Ducati on the set of Terminator Salvation.

"This movie is all about technology taken to such a high level that it becomes an art form — to me, that fits as a description of Ducati," said McG, Director of Terminator Salvation.

New Streetfighter Launch

ducati streetfighter

Riders will launch the new Streetfighter in Bristol and Bridgwater on the 9th May and in Cardiff on the 9th and 10th.

Living up to its name, the Streetfighter has already scored a knockout with bikers in the UK as it has become the most lusted after bike of the year. With the soul of a Superbike and the attitude of a fighter, this bike may be the new kid on the block but it is no shrinking violet.

The Streetfighter has the weight and power to take on any opposition with 155 horse power and weighing in at a fighting weight of 169kg or 167kg ('S' model). Although the Streetfighter may sound like a bruiser it maintains its Italian model looks - muscular yet lean and carrying componentry associated with Ducati quality.

Brembo monoblock brakes, Ohlins suspension, lightweight Marchesini forged wheels and Ducati Traction control ('S' model) help harness 85lb-ft of torque from the 1098 L-Twin Testastretta Evoluzione engine.

Troy Bayliss 1098R Race Rep

Riders have just taken delivery of their very limited editions 1098R Troy Bayliss LE which were created to celebrate Bayliss' victory in the 2008 World Superbike Championship aboard the 1098.

Enjoying exactly the same high specification as the standard 'R' model, the 1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition has a special colour scheme approved by Troy himself. The livery, which was used during Troy's final race at Portimao in Portugal, incorporates the key colours of his success. Sporting the famous number '21' on the pearl white nose and side-fairing number plates, the red and white paint scheme uses the dark blue background of the Australian national flag to blend beautifully along the side of the bodywork and into the unpainted carbon fibre stripe along the seat unit. This attention to fine detail is also evident in features like the Troy Bayliss Race Rep 1098Rcarbon lower-fairing finished in red, except for aerodynamic recess for the side-stand, which remains natural carbon fibre. A subtle '1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition' graphic on the tail fairing leaves no doubt as to what this magnificent bike is.

The striking design contrasts perfectly against the 5-spoke wheels finished in matte black and additional special features like the carbon fibre heat shield on the exhaust.

The 1098 R Bayliss Limited Edition will be limited to only 500 units and comes with a numbered plaque on the top fork clamp, indicating exactly where in the limited edition the motorcycle was built. The number also corresponds to a numbered commemorative desk-top plaque, beautifully encased for safe keeping and bearing the engraved signatures of Ducati Motor Holding CEO Gabriele Del Torchio and Ducati Corse triple World Superbike Champion, Troy Bayliss.

In addition, the model will be supplied with a full racing exhaust system including 102dB carbon fibre mufflers by Termignoni (strictly for track use only), a dedicated ECU, branded bike cover and rear paddock stand.

The stunning 1198 is available from £182.17 per month whilst the smaller but perfectly refinedTroy 1198s 848 is a steal from as little as £147.44 per month. The new Monster 1100 only released at the end of this year also qualifies for this exceptional offer with payments from £117.65 for the Monster 1100 to £87.72 for the smaller 696.

The Hypermotard range offers fun-fuelled riding for monthly payments from £123.21 and the Sport Classic range and Multistrada also qualify for this 0% finance deal.

The full range of the strongest ever line up to emerge from the Bologna factory now has cheaper service costs and linked with a 0% finance scheme there has never been a better reason to buy a Ducati.

All Ducati models except for the Streetfighter range, 1098R, 1098R Troy Bayliss and Desmosedici RR qualify for this finance offer.

There are 2 schemes, 24 monthly payments with a 30% deposit and 36 monthly payments with a 50% deposit, and the finance offer comes into effect from 5th March 2009 with the finance package ending 30th April 2009, examples of this finance package can be obtained from Riders

Our Final Desmocedici

The Desmosedici RR has been in hot demand since June 2006 when reservations for this limited edition bike begun.

Riders has managed to obtain one of the last available bikes and it's up for grabs so the dream of a true GP replica could now come true for you too.

The Desmosedici RR is the first-ever road-going motorcycle to offer such a stunning wealth of performance and technology that comes directly from Ducati's experience in MotoGP.The body design and the aerodynamics faithfully reflect the Desmosedici GP6. The colour scheme, the fittings, the materials used in its construction as well as the technical features of the powerful four-cylinder desmodromic engine built by the Borgo Panigale factory engineers, leave no doubts whatsoever: the Desmosedici RR is the ultimate expression of the most extreme MotoGP racing machine today.

The price includes a three year warranty and servicing cover plus a "slip-on" muffler and complimentary fuel and ignition mapping in a "race ECU". Just 1500 motorcycles have been produced so this is really a once in a lifetime offer. The Desmosedici is priced at £42,000 - a small price in our opinion for this fantastic motorcycle.

Ducati take a break from British Superbike Championship

Ducati UK will not contest the 2009 British Superbike Championship after being unable to secure a team to defend their manufactures crown.

Ducati had a fantastic 2008, winning a number of titles with the 1098R: the British Superbike Championship with Airwaves Ducati and Shane Byrne; the Superbike Cup with North West 200BSB Ducati and John Laverty, the World Superbike Championship with Troy Bayliss and the European Superstock crown with Brendan Roberts. Ducati were hoping to build on the success of this year with a strong line-up for 2009, but in the end, negotiations to field a team have been unsuccessful.

Tim Maccabee, Managing Director of Ducati UK commented on the news, "The 1098R has proven to be a winning machine and this makes it all the more frustrating not to be in BSB next year, but we owe it to Ducati and to race fans to put together as strong a team as possible. Unfortunately due to a number of factors we have been unable find a team solution that will allow us to compete at the highest level. We do however expect to be back in 2010."

Although Ducati will be not be competing in British Superbikes, they are expected to field riders in British Superstock with the new 1198S and will continue to have a strong presence in both World Superbikes and MotoGP.
